Our Founder
RATJPA was founded by Ben Jones, a proud Pitta Pitta, Maiawali and Karuwali man, living on Whadjuk Country. With eight years of dedicated service as a registered nurse in remote primary health care across Western Australia, Northern Territory, and South Australia, he has held various roles, including Health Management, Remote Area Nurse Generalist, and Nurse Specialist positions. Ben's experience encompasses Infection Control & Prevention and serving as the Cultural Liaison Lead with the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AusMAT) in Darwin, where he served as the Quality Manager and Nurse Management Coordinator.
Cultural Immersion & Expertise
Rooted in over 15 years of living and working within remote Aboriginal communities, Ben's commitment to culturally appropriate care and support is deeply ingrained. His cultural heritage allows him to approach healthcare with a profound understanding of cultural sensitivities and needs. Further enriching this perspective, Ben has undergone cross-cultural mediation and cultural awareness training, completing the Mawul Rom Masters in Indigenous Knowledges at the Bush University in Galiwin’ku, East Arnhem Land. Ben consistently enhances his education, leveraging his diverse experiences gained internationally and within remote Aboriginal communities across Australia.
